Bend allowance: Adding up a part's edge lengths and cutting the sheet to that dimension is the most common mistake. When sheet is bent, the outer surface stretches and the inner surface compresses; the true flat pattern is calculated along the neutral axis.
Die selection: Contrary to popular belief, the inner radius comes not from the punch but from the V-die channel width on the lower tool.
Springback: The material opens back up slightly once the force is removed. If not compensated for, the part will not hold its angle; the correct value is calibrated through a sample bend.
